Professional Development Week 2008 (Jan.
16 - Jan. 21)
The
number 99 is worshiped in Edmonton, so when UBC CAPSI discovered
they were sending 99 delegates for this year¡¦s Professional
Development Week(PDW), they knew they were in store for¡KThe
Great One.
PDW 2008
started off with a sophisticated black and white themed opening
banquet, that showcased a hypnotist and special volunteers from
the audience, some of the more notable being Barbie, Britney
Spears, and Vancouver¡¦s very own Michael Bublé.
The 8th
wonder of the world, West Edmonton Mall, was also on the list of
things to do, as the entire water park was reserved for the 700
delegates on Friday of the conference.
On the final day everyone was reminded of the principle
of keeping fit and having fun, with a motivational appearance by
none other than fitness moguls Hal Johnson and Joanne McLeod.
The
conference theme ¡¥Empowering Our Patients¡¦ was very evident
throughout the numerous breakout speaker sessions, as many
focused on ways to stimulate patients to take responsibility for
their health, and play a pivotal role in their medication
therapy.
UBC is
proud of their contestants that put up a noteworthy battle at
both the Pharmafacts Bowl and National Competitions.
CAPSI
would like to thank and congratulate all of our delegates for
their cooperation in making this conference the great one.
Next
year¡¦s PDW is being hosted by Memorial University in St. Johns,
Newfoundland, with the theme being
¡¥A New Found Land of Responsibility¡¦.
