It's that time of the year again! PAW this year will take place from March 1st – 5th, 2010. We are currently looking for committed pharmacy students to be part of our PAW 2010 committee. This is an excellent opportunity for pharmacy students to showcase our knowledge and enthusiasm for our profession as pharmacists. Below are brief descriptions of the committee head positions available, please have a look and consider being part of our team. If you are interested in becoming a committee

Also, if you would like volunteer rather than take on the role of committee head, please also email as well.
 

  • Marketing (1 position) – design posters, post in Woodward and buildings around campus, make announcements to first year UBC science students, take care of PAW clothing, work closely with Media Coordinator
  • Media (1 position) – contact media (ie Ubyssey, BCPhA etc.), liase with media when they arrive, work closely with Marketing Coordinator
  • Pharmacy Fair/Posters (3 positions) – organize the layout of the educational booths, work with sponsorship head to coordinate samples, recruit volunteers to present booths, maintain communication with the volunteers before, during and after the week, have 2-3 people each day to move materials from booth to storage room, create new presentation posters as needed
  • Opening Ceremony (1 position) – ribbon cutting, coordinate VIPs (faculty guest speakers) to speak briefly, work with Pharmacy Showcase Coordinator to recruit performers
  • Pharmacy Info Evening or PIE (1 position) – working with marketing head to ensure ~75-100 first year science students are present, order food for ~100 people, thank sponsorship for event, plan the evening (find speakers to talk about pharmacy the profession and pharmacy at UBC)
  • Pharmacy Showcase (1 position) – book equipment and arrange for transport to venue, schedule performers for opening and closing ceremonies, work closely with Opening Ceremony Coordinator
  • Sponsorship (2 positions) – approach potential sponsors for drug samples, brochures, prizes for raffle, etc.
  • Community Education Coordinator (4 positions) – organize an interactive presentation (eg. Katy’s Kids) targeting elementary schools, organize an informative presentation on pharmacy targeting secondary schools
  • Community Center Outreach Coordinator (1 position) – confirm program with a community centre, recruit volunteers to present booths, work with sponsorship head to coordinate samples, serve as a contact person for the community center
