Amy Le (Email)

Educational Background: I studied four years of biochemistry at UBC and am now in my second year of pharmacy!

Goals for the year:
1. To bring pharmacy students events focusing on how current and future changes could affect our practice in the working environment
2. To organize more social and fun events to help bring together and unify CAPSI members
3. To raise awareness of the roles of CAPSI and to make UBC CAPSI an integral part of the UBC pharmacy experience

Interest in pharmacy: Everything about Pharmacy interests me; I especially enjoy learning and experiencing the roles of pharmacists working in different areas.

When I have free time: I enjoy photography, walking along beaches or parks, dining, shopping, reading and playing non-contact sports like ultimate Frisbee. I also like answering emails: feel free to email me: x.amyle@gmail.com.

Junior Representative

Stephen Huynh (Email)

Educational background: I come from Ottawa, Ontario and I studied biopharmaceutical science at the University of Ottawa for two years before I came to UBC to study pharmaceutical science.

Goals for the year: My goals for the year are to create a solid foundation of pharmaceutical knowledge that can be built upon in the coming years, and to support my peers in any way possible. Learning to cook properly would also be nice, since this is my first year living away from home...

Interest in pharmacy: Pharmacy is particularly interesting to me because it is such a diverse and accessible profession. I'm particularly interested in counseling patients and creating relationships with them, as well as with colleagues.

When I have free time: In my free time I enjoy playing guitar, singing, arranging/composing, and recording, whenever I'm not with friends!

Educational background: Currently I am in second year Pharmacy, and previously I studied two years of biochemistry at UBC.

Goals for the year: My main goal as treasurer is to ensure CAPSI's budget is well planned and to maximize finances.

Interest in pharmacy: I am interested in the clinical aspect of Pharmacy

When I have free time: I enjoy learning to cook, watching reality shows on tv, biking around trails, and reading (fiction and non-fiction).

Secretary

Leanne Leung (Email)

Educational background: I studied four years of Microbiology and Immunology at UBC and I am currently in my second year of pharmacy

Goals for the year :
1) Provide as much support as possible to all CAPSI members in terms of organizing, promoting, and participating in all CAPSI events.
2) Play an active role in CAPSI by encouraging involvement of current CAPSI members in all CAPSI events and recruiting new members for 2012-2013.

Interest in pharmacy: The dynamic changes and challenges in the Future of Pharmacy will hopefully encourage both innovation and individuality. Currently, I am interested in pursuing a career in Hospital Pharmacy and hopefully have an opportunity to do a pediatric residency.

When I have free time: I love, love, love to travel! Currently, my two most favourite places are New York City (where dreams are made of...) and Equador. Travelling is such an amazing adventure - a time to try amazing authentic cuisines, explore new land, create lasting memories, capture beautiful moments, and absorb and experience an absolutely foreign culture!

Jessica Tran(Email)

Educational Background: I completed 2 years of Biomedical Sciences at the University of Calgary, and am now a 2nd year Pharmacy student at UBC

Goals for the year: My main goals are to increase student awareness of what IPSF is all about, and to promote the fantastic international pharmacy opportunities that are available.

Interest in pharmacy: I would like to explore and be involved in new developments in our profession.

When I have free time: I love to rock climb, eat cookies, read everything within my reach, and most of all, travel!

Goals for the year: To update the website as fast as possible, and to provide the most updated information to all CAPSI members.

Interest in pharmacy: I'm interested in the clinical aspect of pharmacy (or becoming specialized in pediatrics).

When I have free time: I love Shopping, Eating desserts, Hanging out with friends, Watching dramas and Travelling around the world!

First Year Representative

Lisa Lix (Email)

Educational Background: I completed my BSc. in Biological Sciences at the University of Calgary in June 2011 and am now attending my first year of Pharmacy at UBC as part of the class of 2015.

Goals for the year:
1. To encourage first year participation in all pharmacy events.
2. To develop my own awareness about the opportunities and services provided by CAPSI and to communicate them to my fellow first years.
3. To expand my involvement with the profession of pharmacy within a national and international context—and encourage my peers to do the same and to start doing so early on in their pharmacy education!
4. To promote awareness about the changes that are occurring within the profession and promote advocacy to ensure that those changes are in line with our goals as graduates of the class of 2015.

Interest in pharmacy: My first love is community pharmacy with a focus on compounding, but I am excited about all of the opportunities available to pharmacy graduates and am open to exploring as many of them as I possibly can!

When I have free time: I try to exercise, catch up on sleep, and spend time outside with friends and family.

Second Year Representative

Shaylee Peterson (Email)

Educational background : 1 of science at UBC, and now currently in 2nd year pharmacy.

Goals for the year : Get the 1st years excited about coming out to CAPSI events and plan an awesome compounding competition!

Interest in Pharmacy: I want to go into hospital pharmacy for sure, and hopefully get my PharmD.

When I have free time: I play rugby and do anything else I can outside - hiking, skiing, camping - you name it!

Third Year Representative

Educational background: I am currently a third year pharmacy student at the University of British Columbia. I also have a bachelors degree in Cell Biology and Genetics.

Goals for the year: This year I hope to increase pharmacy awareness through involvement with CAPSI as well as within my class. I wish to explore new horizons through new experiences and develop new skills along the way. I also hope to go to PDW.

Interest in pharmacy: At the moment, I'm leaning more towards community practice but my interest may change as I continue through 3rd and 4th year

When I have free time: I enjoy working out, watching movies and doing random things with friends.

Fourth Year Co-Representatives

Amelia Jang (Email)

Educational background: 2 of science at UBC, and now currently in 4th year pharmacy.

Goals for the year: As one of the 4th year representatives, I am much looking forward to being the bridge between my soon-to-be colleagues and CAPSI. I have been actively participating in many of the pharmacy events, including PAW, PDW and CAPSI competitions, throughout the past 3 years. I see this as my last opportunity to further engage in the student community and make the most out of my final year at pharmacy school.

Interest in pharmacy : Community pharmacist for the first few years then I will look into a corporate job or possibly owning a pharmacy depending on the career opportunities at the time.

When I have free time: I love to bake, do nail arts, paint, draw or read a book.

Educational background: Four Years Pharmacy, two years UBC Bachelors of Science

Goals for the year: Initiate and organize student fundraisers and events, increase awareness of the many different opportunities that CAPSI provides for Pharmacy Students, and make 4th year students the top class that comes out to suppport CAPSI events!

Interest in pharmacy: Advances in Medication Management approach to treatment, Community and Hospital Pharmacy.

When I have free time: I'm enjoying the fantastic outdoor activities that Vancouver has to offer (ie. Grouse Grind), watching movies, and shopping!

Fundraiser

Lily Liang (Email)

Educational background: 2nd year UBC Pharmacy

Goals for the year: The main goal of the year is to fundraise as much fundings as possible toward financing future activities for CAPSI members and any events for general UBC pharmacy students. Also to support the council and my peers anyway I can.

Interest in pharmacy: Still at my exploratory stages, like a kid in the candy store flipping through all the different fields within pharmacy with star glazed eyes, but currently very interested interprofessional practice setting.

When I have free time: Really would like to go travelling, especially in the wildness and oceanic regions. I also like to read mystery and historical novels, but I haven't found a really go one for a long time, any suggestions? My other hobbies including drawing and painting.

Katie Milbers (Email)

Educational background : Hi, my name's Katie, I'm in first year Pharmacy and I'm the new UBC editor for the CAPSIL National Newsletter, as well as the editor for UBC's new µCapsil eNewsletter. I was born and raised in Vancouver but lived in Montreal, Quebec, for 9 years up until this past September. I completed a previous degree in Environment at McGill University, studying ecological determinants of health.

Goals for the year : My goals for the year are to create a drug database in my head (for all those FPDs) and fully settle into my new life in Vancouver and at UBC.

Interest in Pharmacy: I'm always interested in how my previous knowledge affects pharmacy practice.

When I have free time: In my spare time I love to experience new things, cook food and dabble in as many types of art, music, reading and writing as I possibly can.

Educational background : 2 years studying Science before being admitted to Pharmacy. Currently I am a 3rd year Pharmacy student at UBC.

Goals for the year :
1. To strengthen pharmacy development throughout the nation
2. To promote and develop the importance of pharmacy positions in an interprofessional, collaborative team.
3. To represent pharmacy students from the nation to other health professional groups.

Interest in Pharmacy: Still unsure, but I am quite interested in pharmacy practice in an interprofessional setting.

When I have free time: I love traveling. Give me a plane ticket and I will be willing to go anywhere. I also enjoy ballroom (standard & latin!) dancing, and would like to take more lessons if only I had the time.

Suzanne Soneff

Educational Background: After graduating from high school, I completed 1 year of a general biology degree before being accepted into UBC's pharmacy program. I am going into my 3rd year of the program and will graduate in 2012.

Goals for the year:
1. To increase awareness of IPSF to Canadian Pharmacy students, in hopes that more students will take advantage of the opportunities available (such as SEP, world congress, WHO internships etc).
2. Increase the impact of IPSF health campaigns on our universities
3. Improve communications with FIP and PSF, in hopes of generating more opportunities for our students

Interest in pharmacy: I think I will stay in community pharmacy for a few years before spending some time working with FIP and PSF. I hope to eventually work in an interprofessional practice.

When I have free time: I am a huge hockey fan (Go Canucks!), but I like all sports in general. I love science and pharmacy but I also have an interest in current affairs, international relations and the environment. I am a terrible cook, but I pretty good baker (if I could live off of cookies and cake, I would).
